Edwards holds no Grayson grudge

The 36-year-old told BBC Devon: "He released me, but there's no hard feelings, he was just doing his job.

"At the time I didn't agree with his decision, I thought I had a lot more football left in me."

Edwards added: "I think it shocked a few people around the club because I had a good season and played a lot of games."

After leaving the North West, the former Wales international moved to Exeter where he became an ever present in manager Paul Tisdale's back four during their promotion winning season in 2007-8.

And with the Grecians now plying their trade in League One, the opportunity to line-up against Grayson's men at St James Park on Saturday is a challenge that Exeter's veteran defender does not want to pass up.

"Obviously I'd like to play, but I'm sure that Paul [Tisdale] will be picking the team that can do the job on Saturday, so a few people come into the reckoning."
