Jones bullish ahead of opener

Defender Billy Jones is looking forward to Exeter's League One opener against Colchester United on Saturday. Manager Paul Tisdale signed the 27-year-old this summer, along with five other players, as he looks to build on last season's impressive showing. Jones, who played for the Grecians for two years between 2005 and 2007, has returned to the club from Crewe and believes the squad is in a better state than when he left. He said: "When I was last here in the Conference we had a great squad then. You could see the quality, but now coming into League One and this squad you are looking at even better players. "It's always a bonus to have the kind of players in your side who have the ability to win tight games - it's really pleasing. "So I'm looking forward to the season. In a way it will be good to get the friendlies finished, because at this time of year you are just waiting for the season to start."
