Tisdale feels Exeter are on track

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale feels his side are heading in the right direction even though they are just two points above the relegation places. The Grecians are without a win in their last four games, but Tisdale still sees plenty of room for optimism.

He told BBC Devon: "I'm contented in the fact that we've got a lot of players who are fighting.

"The players are high spirited and have got a real reason to be optimistic about the next period of games."

On Saturday, Tisdale will take his men to south London to face Millwall, a side they drew 1-1 with at St James Park in November.

City's last win came at home against Leeds in mid-January but the 37-year-old said results do not always give an accurate reflection of the state of a team.

Tisdale said: "Sometimes what you see with your players is not always what you get in the results, and I feel we're getting some really good performances at the moment."

With only two places and two points separating the Grecians from the bottom four in League One, thoughts of relegation are inevitable but Tisdale is not surprised the side are in such a position.

"It was only a short while ago that we were in the Conference so we're into a new level altogether and that effects everything," he added.

"And it all needs time to pick up and get to speed and I think that we've done that.

"Obviously the real business side to this is that we need to stay in League One and I think we've given ourselves every chance to do so," concluded Tisdale.
