Exeter boss Paul Tisdale may call on the veteran striker Marcus Stewart in place of either Barry Corr or on-loan Rotherham striker Ryan Taylor.
Utility player Rob Edwards could return from a hamstring injury.
Tranmere Rovers manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I think a few of them [relegation rivals] are getting to the point were they're almost safe.
"We're looking at the likes of Wycombe and Southend below us and Gillingham, Exeter themselves and Hartlepool and Oldham have pulled away.
"Although they [Exeter] did really well on Monday against Swindon and looked a really good side, we've no idea how they are going to turn up here and they've no idea what they are going to produce."
