New signings Kirk Jackson and Matthew Rees started for the Daggers in their clash with sixth place Exeter as they looked to improve upon their goalscoring rate which had seen them rack up nine goals in their last two league games.

The Daggers wasted no time going on the offensive but despite their extra fire power up front it was Exeter's Alexandre Jeannin who almost gifted the home side with the opener when his header back to his keeper had to be kicked over the bar.

Although the Daggers had most of the opening possession Exeter found they had the best chance after 20 minutes when Sean Canham raised the ball into Daniel Naisbitt's hands from the edge of the box.

Tim Cole should have had his second goal in as many games minutes later but just failed to get any direction on Tarkan Mustafa's cross and instead his header looped over the bar.

Mustafa then hit a rocket of a drive from 30 yards out which looked to be about to break the deadlock but James Bittner managed to get a hand to it to keep the Daggers out.

Exeter upped their game in the second half and almost scored ten minutes in. Santos Gaia's was palmed onto the post by Naisbitt before his follow-up effort went wide as the Grecians started to stake their claim on the game.

Canham was next to sting Naisbitt's hands and Gareth Sheldon's follow-up came crashing off the post as Exeter continued to push.

Just as it looked as though the game was heading for a 0-0 result, Canham bundled the ball over the line and despite Naisbitt's efforts to clear his header off the line the goal stood.

The Grecians doubled their lead six minutes later when Naisbitt brought down Leslie Afful in the box and picked up a yellow card for his troubles. James Coppinger stepped up to the spot and neatly despatched the ball into the back of the net.

So there were to be no goals this week for the Daggers faithful as they now look forward to their FA Trophy tie against Arlesey next week.
