Exeter 1-0 Cheltenham: Match Report - view commentary, squad, and statistics of the game as it happened.Nichols ends Exeter's Robins hoodooExeter earned a first ever win against Cheltenham with Tom Nichols scoring the only goal of the game at St James' Park. The match was a lot more comfortable than the scoreline suggests as Cheltenham boss Paul Buckle and his assistant Rob Edwards endured a miserable return to Devon.Exeter dominated from the start and could easily have gone in front in the first half

Nichols fired straight at Trevor Carson and was denied a brilliant solo goal by the Cheltenham goalkeeper after waltzing down the left wing and cutting into the penalty box.Cheltenham did have chances on the counter-attack; Terry Gornell missing the best of those when he dragged a shot wastefully wide from 20 yards, but their cause was not helped by losing two players to injury in the first half hour. After the break, Exeter continued to dominate and the breakthrough came shortly past the hour mark as a Nichols' shot from 25 yards evaded Carson and bounced inside the far post.Nichols came close to a second when his exquisite chip came back off the upright and another effort was well dealt with by Carson as Exeter picked up another impressive three points in their quest for promotion
