Nichols rescues the Grecians
Tom Nichols came off the bench to rescue a point for Exeter in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Bury.
Danny Coles' error in the 15th minute allowed former Exeter striker Daniel Nardiello to open the scoring with a low shot across goal that seemed to squirm through the grasp of Grecians' goalkeeper Artur Krysiak.
Danny Hylton missed two good chances to extend Bury's lead and it proved costly as Exeter, without a win in eight games now, equalised four minutes before the break when David Wheeler nipped in front of his marker to volley in John O'Flynn's hooked cross from 15 yards.
Bury went back in front two minutes after the break when Nathan Cameron headed in a Chris Sedgewick corner and the Shakers thought they had made it 3-1 when they appeared to bundle the ball in after an almighty scramble, but the goal was not awarded.
With 15 minutes remaining, Exeter equalised when Nichols turned in Sercombe's drilled cross and the young striker almost won it at the death, but he headed a Matt Grimes cross wide from 15 yards.
