Exeter 2-2 Carlisle- Match Report

Exeter and Carlisle draw after Old Grandstand fire scare at St James' ParkExeter City and Carlisle United shared the spoils from a 2-2 draw in a game that was delayed after the Old Grandstand at St James' Park had to be evacuated due to a fire scare. The game was delayed for around 70 minutes before firemen gave the all-clear for the match to continue after a thorough investigation and just seconds after Jayden Stockley had given Exeter the lead with seven minutes on the clock. He latched onto David Wheeler's flick and hit a first-time shot from 18 yards that Mark Gillespie spilled and the ball spun into the net with the goalkeeper stricken. Then play was halted when an alarm sounded forcing an evacuation of the Old Grandstand

Around 900 fans spilled onto the pitch while the fire brigade were called and when play restarted, it was Carlisle who took control. They equalised after 27 minutes when Ryan Harley lost the ball cheaply and Charlie Wyke shot across goal and into the far corner. Both teams had chances after that, but it was Wheeler that put Exeter back in front after 79 minutes with a clinical volley 10 yards out from Lee Holmes' cross. However, Carlisle equalised on 85 minutes when Luke Joyce's shot cannoned off the underside of the crossbar and Hallam Hope nodded home from on the line
