Great Scot lifts Grecians

Scot Bennett's first goal in professional football and Danny Coles' first for the club helped injury-ravaged Exeter to an impressive 3-0 win over Tranmere.

Tranmere started well with Jose Baxter forcing Exeter goalkeeper Artur Krysiak into a good save on three minutes, but Exeter, without eight first-team players, opened the scoring just before half-time.

Chris Hackett, who joined the club on loan from Millwall this week, and Steve Tully combined down the right. Tully's cross was not cleared and Bennett rammed home his first goal for the club from 12 yards.

Richard Logan hit the bar for Exeter early in the second half, and the Grecians doubled their lead when Hackett's cross was turned in from close range by Coles after 66 minutes.

Tranmere offered little in attack with Exeter defending superbly and Logan added a third 12 minutes from time when he ran in on goal and finished with aplomb.
