Exeter powered their way to the biggest win of the season with an impressive performance against rock-bottom Leigh.

Steve Flack scored early for the Grecians and strike partner Sean Devine stretched the scoring after the break.

Leigh pulled a goal back but Exeter made sure of the victory with a three-goal blitz in the last 11 minutes of an exciting game.

Defender Gary Sawyer scored his first goal for the club before Andy Taylor and Jake Edwards got on the scoresheet in a storming finish.

The Grecians took the lead in the 16th minute.

Les Afful struck a fine cross into the box and Flack powered home an unstoppable header from six yards.

Devine twice went close as the half drew to a close. He headed Hiley's long ball past the post then struck a fine shot narrowly wide from a tight angle.

After the break Exeter continued to create chances and started to dominate the game.

Goalkeeper Ian Martin made a superb block to deny Devine as the striker volleyed the ball powerful after meeting Afful's cross.

The second goal came eight minutes after the restart.

Devine dispossessed Chris Lane inside the Leigh box and managed to slot the ball past Martin with a fine strike from a tight angle.

In the 75th minute Leigh pulled a goal back. Karl Rose slipped the ball through to Chris Simm and the striker lashed the ball past James Bittner with a sweet strike from 15 yards.

Substitute Gareth Sheldon whipped in a dangerous free kick for Exeter and Sawyer got the last touch after a major goalmouth scramble.

With six minutes left on the clock Taylor made it four when he thumped home a powerful shot from 12 yards after he was picked out by Devine.

In injury time two substitutes combines to make it five, when Marcus Martin found Edwards and the striker hit an unstoppable volley into the back of the net.
