Pools marching on

Hartlepool made it six games unbeaten this season with a 2-0 win over Exeter.

Midfielder Gary Liddle scored the opener after five minutes, drilling in from close range after both Antony Sweeney and Colin Nish struck the frame of the goal following a lovely floated pass from Nobby Solano.

Solano almost made it two but his low angled drive smashed off the inside of the far post with Lenny Pidgeley beaten.

But while Pools were on top in the first half, the second period belonged to the visitors who dominated possession but were unable to break through.

In the 83rd minute Scott Flinders turned over a fierce effort from Daniel Nardiello.

But six minutes later substitute Nathan Luscombe scored a first career goal when he swept in an Andy Monkhouse cross to seal the win.
