Rhodes sinks Grecians

Jordan Rhodes scored his 30th goal of the season to secure Huddersfield a 2-0 win over Exeter in Simon Grayson's first game in charge.

Rhodes blasted home five minutes from time to sign off in style for international duty next week - he will miss Town's trip to Stevenage on Tuesday because of a call-up for Scotland's under-21s for the Euro qualifier against Holland.

Centre-back Jamie McCombe gave Town the lead in the 40th minute with his third goal in five matches after winger Danny Ward was fouled out on the left.

Ward took the free-kick himself and curled the ball into the box for McCombe to head home into the far corner.

Before that Sean Morrison struck the frame of the goal for the home side while Rhodes brought a superb one-handed save from Artur Krysiak.

Alan Lee, Ward and Lee Novak went close before Rhodes sealed it in the 85th minute. Oscar Gobern gave the ball to Novak who squared for Rhodes to smash home a rising drive off the underside of the bar from just inside the box.
